Warren Elementary School
September Newsletter

From Our School Principal - Welcome back to school to all students, parents, staff, and friends of Warren Elementary School. The opening days of school have gone well and I look forward to a very productive year ahead.

I would like to thank each of you who volunteer your time at school. Without your dedication and hard work, many of our programs would not be possible. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the office.

Again, we would like to remind you to call school when your child is absent. If that is not possible, please send a note the next day. School Board policy has changed regarding attendance. Please read the handbook regarding this.

Also, parents are asked to wait by the cushions at the entrance to the building when picking up your child after school. If your child is on the lower floor please wait outside the east wing doors. Please do not go to the classroom unless directed by the office. This is for the safety of your children.

HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR!
Michael Mason, Principal

PTA - On Tuesday, September 15th, at 7:00 p.m. our school will have its annual Open House. This Open House will provide you an opportunity to meet your child's teacher and to look at your child's classroom. There will not be a PTA business meeting before Open House. PTA membership can be obtained prior to the Open House.

Please review the volunteer sheet. If you would like to volunteer for any of these activities, please return the form as soon as possible. We appreciate your support and could not do these activities without your help.

School Fees - There are still a number of students who have not paid school fees. Fees are as follows:

Kindergarten $10.00
Grades 1, 2, 3 $30.00
Grades 4, 5, 6 $15.00
Grades 7, 8 $10.00

If you have a voucher please return it with your fees. Please make checks payable to: WARREN ELEMENTARY.

New Staff - Please welcome the following new staff members:

Mrs. Melinda Stabler SLD Tutor

Mrs. Lydia Hunter 7th & 8th Grade Science

Mrs. Robin Proctor Handicap Aide

School Calendar - This year's district wide school calendar is printed on the back cover of the Warren Local School District Parent/Student Handbook.

From Our School Counselor - Recently I looked at the current school calendar and found myself almost startled to realize that next year's calendar will say "School Year 1999-2000"! For those of us in our "middle years", it seems almost impossible that the year 2000 is almost here! The computer problem that is associated with the year 2000 only adds to the mystic surrounding the start of the next millennium (I understand it technically starts in the year 2001).

Regardless of the year, most of us face concerns not so far removed from those of our parents. Shelter, food, transportation and education were areas of need that our parents focused much of their time and energy towards. Helping our children reach their potential in a safe, loving environment is a timeless objective for which we all strive. Together, we can continue to provide our children and our families the ingredients that make for a nourishing community.

Mr. McMichael
